Ask Mr. Union
Dear Mr. Union,
Several of my students have just been suspended for participating in an Easter Egg Hunt. It seems that my school, which is located in the mountains, has a policy that says "all hunting is strictly forbidden on school property." I have also been informed that I am to be disciplined because I organized the event. What makes it even worse for me is it's already been a bad week. When my son won the Easter Egg Hunt, I was accused of telling him where all the eggs were hidden, and last week my pet rabbit, "Feet O'Luck", which I had disguised as a groundhog to protect him from being stolen during Easter week, was trapped by an irate local who was still angry that we had had 6 more weeks of winter. I'm confident that the case against the students and me will eventually be dropped on a technicality, but I think my son will lose the "Golden Ears" trophy that he was awarded for the Easter Egg Hunt. The whole incident is just another example of the "tail wagging the bunny". Are tere other schools that have had a similar problem?

Dear Frank,
This kind of incident, a serious misinterpretation of language intent, is far from rare. Last month, for example, three students were arrested for selling drugs in a drug free zone, but two other students, who were giving the drugs away, were not arrested.
P.S. Let me share with you my condolences for the loss of your pet rabbit. I also lost a pet tragically, when my pet house fly, "Old Green Eyes", was squashed during a Swat Team raid in the late 70s.
