Other Benefits for Philadelphia Archdiocesan High School Teachers

ACT Members

Voluntary Vision Plan
The Voluntary Vision Plan for ACT Members helps to defray the costs of eye exams, eyeglasses, and contacts. The benefits are provided by Davis Vision and is administered by Highmark Blue Shield

Educational Grant
A fund of $65,000 is established each year to assist some of the lay teachers in their pursuit of an approved educational goal. Any teacher having completed one (1) year of satisfactory teaching in the Secondary School System is eligible to receive this grant. Fifty percent (50%) of the tuition costs up to a maximum of $2000 for undergraduate level courses, $2500 for graduate level courses and $3000 for doctoral level courses will be reimbursed. Teachers may also use the fund as reimbursement for successfully passing the Praxis exams in their area of certification.

Tuition
Any lay teacher who has dependent children attending the Secondary Schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is not expected or required to pay Diocesan Registration Fees, Tuition or School Fees for such children. Dependent children of a teacher who dies while an employee of the System will receive the above benefit. Dependent children of a teacher who retires from the System will also receive the above benefit.

Lunch
Lunch is provided at no cost to lay teachers on all regularly scheduled school days.

Excess Automobile Insurance
The System provides excess automobile liability coverage applicable to teachers transporting faculty members and/or students on or as part of a school activity.
